Our pairwork dramas are written to give children the chance to develop their acting skills at the same time as they read and have fun. A full range of intonation, speed, volume and expression are all vital for effective reading and acting. Scenes are written for only two characters, meaning that children are fully involved in the action throughout. Playing several different roles (old, young, male, female, fierce, timid, etc) allows for a full range of reading and acting experiences in each play. Plays can be used in the classroom, but are also designed so that they can be read or performed in the home, by brothers and sisters or parent and child. They are fully photocopiable, so you only need to order one script. Joe and the Beanstalk Trace the development of little Joe's personality as he is transformed from a seemingly timid, dopey youth into a cool, calculating opportunist. His manipulation of feeble-minded giant Grabbold, and his ruthless handling of the Harp problem are tailor-made for your average bloodthirsty schoolkid! Cinderella All the original ingredients appear to be present - ugly sisters, love-struck butler, fairy godmother, Prince Charming etc. But don't be fooled. Cinders is a brat of the first order, whose only interest is looking after Number 1. As for marrying a prince ..... well, it depends what's in it for her, doesn't it? Life in Britain during World War 2 We're currently in the process of developing a series of humorous dramas to fit in with the National Curriculum History schemes of work. The first set has already been written to go with the Life in Britain during World War 2 topic. It provides the ideal opportunity for children to practise their reading and performance skills while learning their History.
