| Joseph Sample 1: The first run through. Joseph hasn't turned up, so Levi has to read his part too. |
|
DIR Levi, can you read Joseph's part as well? LEVI Sure thing dude. DIR Right, let’s take it from the top. The play starts when Joseph is given his new coat by his dad Jacob. JACOB You've always been special to me Joseph. Out of all my sons you've always seemed the most devoted to me. As a token of my love for you, I've got you this beautiful new coat. LEVI(JOS) (disgusted) Oh thanks dad, it's fantastic. DIR What?? You're supposed to be delighted, over the moon! It's the best thing that's ever happened to you. LEVI I wouldn't be seen dead around town in that thing dude, it's just not cool. DIR You're Joseph, remember, you're supposed to be an actor, so act!!! LEVI(JOS) (over the top, with a hint of sarcasm) Oh thanks dad, it's fantastic!! DIR That's better! LEVI(JOS) What do you think of my new coat, Levi? Come on, you're the fashion expert! LEVI Hey, it's just a coat, Joseph, it's nothing special. NAP You've still got the coat on. DIR What? NAP He's still got the coat on. When he reads Levi's bits, he should take the coat off, so we don't get confused about who's speaking. (murmurs of agreement from others) DIR All right, take the coat off, Levi. (Levi takes coat off) LEVI Hey, it's just a coat, Joseph, it's nothing special. LEVI(JOS) Well I think it's super! It fits - NAP Coat! LEVI(JOS) Sorry. (puts coat on again, then continues in Levi’s hippy voice) Well I think it's super! It fits me like - ZEB Voice! DIR What? ZEB He did the wrong voice. He did the Levi voice when it should've been the Joseph voice. LEVI(JOS) (in Joseph voice) Well I think it's super! It fits me like a glove! Isn't it just the latest fashion too, Levi? LEVI If you've been locked in a cupboard for twenty two years I suppose it is, dude. NAP/ISAC Coat! LEVI(JOS) (takes coat off, then continues in Joseph voice) If you've been locked in - NAP/ZEB/ISA Voice! LEVI Oh for goodness sake!!! (throws coat on floor) |
