Sample 1: The village dramatic society is meeting for the first read through of their production of Joseph. The Director finds himself with problems: the cast is weak, two of them have forgotten their scripts ....... and Joseph hasn't turned up. Levi is asked to read Joseph's part as well as his own, and the rehearsal soon descends into chaos. Sample 2: The Director's bust-up with his forgetful Narrator threatens to bring the wheels off the production, until an ungraciously apology is dragged out of him. In Canaan the brothers are jealous of Joseph's coat and Reuben hatches a plot to get rid of him. The poor boy is duly beaten up and left to die, but then a band of wandering Ishmaelites happens by, and the bargaining begins. Sample 3: In Egypt the strong, (very) silent Joe comes to the attention of Potiphar's wife, who immediately makes her move. Her husband returns just at the wrong moment, and our hero is caught in the act. Guards are summoned to carry him off to the cells, but it turns out to be not quite that simple .... Sample 4: It's dress rehearsal night, and the cast are managing to bumble along in a not very convincing manner. Joseph's dream-reading skills are brought to Pharaoh's notice, but their scene is interrupted by a group of hecklers in the audience. The Director naturally gets the hump and marches off in a huff. Sample 5: Opening night, and the ordeal is nearly over. The brothers have made a embarrassing hash of getting the chalice scene, picking up the wrong sacks and having to pass the jug behind their backs to the unfortunate Benjamin. Surely that would bring an end to the torment? Unfortunately not for Joseph, as his big moment is completely overshadowed by the return of Bert the Director.
