Mike's Bushtucker Diner.       This text practises the ie  and i-e  phonemes.  Beware! It's not for the squeamish!

You don’t have to be mad to eat at Mike’s, but it helps. You do, without doubt, have to be brave. Mike’s wife cooks fine dishes from around the world. Take a look at the menu and decide what to do:

           a)    order with a smile

           b)    think twice

           c)    run a mile!

All but one of them are real meals! Can you spot the odd man out??

Starters / Lite Bites

Cupful Of Live Ants.  Hold them by the head (or they’ll bite you!), squish with fingers, crunch and munch!

Fried Pig Fat.  A nice big dollop of ripe fat, from the deep freeze, into the pan and onto the plate. Yummy!

Two Smoked Bats.  Nice and fresh, on a bed of green salad leaves.

Dog Tail Donut.  Sliced tail, fried in Mike’s choice crispy batter. Fido don’t wag no more! Woof woof!

Pair Of Fried Spiders.  Sixteen hairy legs to sink your teeth into.

Pile Of Lice.  We heat them over a real fire then pop them sizzling onto your plate. Don’t be a louse – try it!

Bird’s Nest Broth.  A nest of solid bird spit, melted and boiled. What a tweet!

Main Meals.

Camel’s Feet.  We dish them up with fried rice (and lice as well, if you like). Don’t get the hump, eat the feet!

Dormouse Stew.  We add spices then boil the mice slowly.  We can mince your mice if you prefer.

Blood Dumplings.  We cook them with salt, you eat them with butter, bacon and jam. Why not try them with your Dormouse Stew!

Deep Fried Monkey Toes.  We glaze them with limes, mix with peppers then fry in a wok until red hot!

Seal Flipper Pie. We dice them with a sharp knife, fry in fish oil and then bake slowly in a deep crunchy pie.

Sheep’s Eyes.  The best bit of the sheep! We slice and serve on a bed of rice. From the banks of the River Nile, into your belly!

Brain Of The Day.  Choose your brain from the animals in stock on the day. It may be monkey, dog, cat or squirrel. Will make you bright as well as full!
